How to make an affordable lightsaber? Why a hardware store of course! I walked around the PVC aisle looking for cool pieces and slowly piecing together my own custom lightsaber handle.
I took home the handful of plastic parts, screwed them all together, ground off the lettering on the sides, and painted them with some shiny silver paint. Next I washed on a mix of black acrylic paint and strategically wiped it off with an old shirt. A couple clear coats of matte finish spray paint later and some drying time I had myself some nifty and cheap lightsabers. Since then I’ve made a few more for myself and with friends. It’s a surprising amount of fun and extremely satisfying.
As you can see, most parts are pretty cheap and the possibilities are pretty much endless, not to mention fun!
